Day 38 (March 13, 2019)<\/p>\n

Hi Lord,<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dane and I went to his chiropody initial assessment today, and we received some great news! DANE DOES NOT HAVE TO GET SURGERY ON HIS FOOT!! (Wooo!) That was something that had been really concerning Dane, and it was such a relief to hear that he did not have to get any major procedure done. We did learn, from the bone scan results, that he has developed a very mild form of arthritis in his right foot\u2019s big toe joint though. It made a bit of sense since he did break that toe when he was younger, but we were curious about what was causing the pain if the arthritis was very mild. Interestingly, during the assessment, the doctor noticed that Dane\u2019s right foot has a higher arch than his left foot. (After 12 years of being together, I learned something new about my man today lol.) The higher arch puts greater stress on the toe joint when he bends his foot which in turn irritates the arthritis, causing him pain, but that could all most likely be remedied.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The doctor recommended that Dane wear tennis shoes that were less floppy. (Meaning, tennis shoes with a more rigid structure in the toe area.) The doctor even gave Dane a list of about 15 different shoe options that would do the job nicely, but they were not the Vans he loves. (Lord, he is such a California boy!) To his great relief, the doctor did give Dane another option. He was told that he does not have to wear tennis shoes all the time just as long as he wears orthopedic insoles within his Vans. (He was soooo happy about this, Lord!) The doctor actually 3D scanned both of Dane\u2019s feet today, so that insoles could be created that were modified to his feet\u2019s exact specifications. It was cool to watch, but I don\u2019t know how he handled having his feet touched so much. (I would have most likely kicked the nice doctor in the face. My feet are insanely ticklish.) We go back in about two weeks to try out his insoles, and I really hope they relieve my husband\u2019s pain.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lord, I am so thankful for how well this appointment went. Thank you so very much for answering our prayers regarding surgery. It really is a weight off Dane\u2019s shoulders. Thank you also for putting us in the hands of a super knowledgeable and caring doctor. She had such a wonderful bedside manner and explained all the tests and orthopedic options very clearly. And, while I am at it, might I also mention how thankful I am that you were with me on my walk to the doctor\u2019s office. Construction was in high swing, and there was equipment everywhere. When I came upon the most congested area\u2014a construction zone that could have sent my anxiety over the edge\u2014there was Dane. Usually, I beat him to the doctor\u2019s office but, today, you knew I would need him on that street. (Didn\u2019t you, Lord!?) My heart knows that was your grace that allowed him to be there first. Thank you for your wonderful timing.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Plus, that assessment room could have been the end of my sanity. Bottled solutions were everywhere! But the crazy thing is I walked around that room calmly\u2014without my brain in chaos\u2014and I know that was because of you, Lord. Anytime Dane and the doctor had to leave the room, you opened an opportunity for me to follow close by, so I would not be left alone with my fears. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring for not only Dane today but for me as well. Your grace and strength helped me be a calm support for my husband, and that meant everything to me, Lord. (Today I was not a burden on my beloved.) Oh, and don\u2019t you even think for a minute that I don\u2019t know what you did afterwards! When we stepped out of the doctor\u2019s office, the construction equipment was stowed away, and the trucks were all gone. It was so calm, and I know it was because of you! (Godly timing, I tell ya! I know it when I see it, and I love you for it!) Gosh, thank you for a day where we were so well taken care of.<\/p>\n
