Shimmery Inspiration

Day 69 (April 13, 2019)

Hey Big Guy,

Remember how, nearly a month ago, my African violet had only one flower blooming. Well, take a look at it now, Lord. My African violet has about 30 blooms and is absolutely thriving! Taking in the sight of all the blooms makes my heart—and eyes—sooo happy. You totally outdid yourself, Lord, when you created these sweet little flowers. Their petals actually sparkle in the sunshine, as if you softly sprinkled a layer of shimmer dust upon them. (I have never seen other flower petals sparkle and, Lord, if there is a place that needs flowers that reflect your shimmery light, it is the grey Frozen North for sure.)

Lord, it may not look like spring outside—since it did snow a few days ago—but inside the Wylie home, it sure feels like it. I have never had a plant do so well—like ever. (Gosh, it is like it doesn’t even account for the fact that it is definitely still winter up here but blooms out of pure happiness no matter the northern timing.) The next step is to figure out whether or not it needs to be repotted into a larger vessel where its roots have room to spread out. Lord, I just want to make sure my African violet is taken good care of and is as happy as it makes me.

Honestly, just seeing this burst of new life helps so much during these last few weeks of greyness. (Believe me, I love the winter snow. But, after nearly seven months of grey, this California girl is ready for some brilliant sunshine and pops of spring color. My allergy meds are even on the kitchen counter raring to go!) Haha, Lord, my African violet not only brings me wonderful springtime vibes during the winter season, but my little plant has also given me a great burst of joy leading into, what will hopefully be, the last week(ish) of this pulling season.

Lord, if joy—and a poignant visualization of something in its full glory—aren’t the best motivational tools to help inspire me not to pull during this final leg, I don’t know what will help get me across the finish line. (Well, other than you, of course!) Haha, it may not be full glory status for me at the end of this—I have an inkling that is meant for another time and place, Lord—but I wouldn’t count out there being a pretty little surprise in store, at the end, either. Just got to not pull, so we can see! Love you so much, Lord!

Always,

Your Daughter Kaitlan

P.S. Lord, I don’t have to tell you how powerful of a tool joy is or how instrumental visual inspiration can be either. We both know they each have the ability to encourage and motivate. They can each be a driving force behind a person’s decision to change their defeated attitude into one of renewed fortitude. So, Lord, I pray that you spread joy—and not so subtle visual inspiration—into the lives of anyone who is approaching their final week(ish) of their hair pulling timeline because this is when they (we) need that extra boost in our spirit the most. It will all help us sprint, and not crawl, across that finish line. Thank you, Lord!
