Shorts and Belly Laughter
Day 59 (April 3, 2019)
Hey there Big Guy,
As you well know, Dane has another major movie close out happening currently. It is one of the big blockbusters of the year, and I do not expect to get to see him much for a while. So today, on one of his few scheduled days off, we decided it did not matter what we did, just as long as we were with each other. We ended up going grocery shopping. (Whoa, shocker! We are just so unpredictable haha.) But, seriously, guess what the real shocker was, Lord!? It was nearly 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside, and Dane was beyond elated!! Excitedly, he put on a t-shirt, one light jacket, and SHORTS! (I was not that brave—47 degrees is still too nippy for my cold-blooded body.) But I guess he figured shorts would be okay since we were driving to the grocery store, instead of completing the 15-minute walk, and his legs could survive the fast-paced walk to and from the parking lot. (From the parking lot to the grocery store yes, but walking to the liquor store and back, haha no way.)
I don’t know what happened in the 45(ish) minutes that we were in the grocery store, but when we came back outside a frigid wind had picked up. It was as if each gust of air purposefully hit us and whipped around our bodies in search of exposed skin to bite. Gosh, and you and I both know Lord, Dane was showin’ some skin today. The wind was attracted to him like mosquitos to a bare, naked arm—totally ready to sting. (Lord, I have never seen Dane walk so fast in my life!! I think the only thing on his mind was to make the three-minute walk to the liquor store, purchase the whiskey he sought, and return to the warm confines of our vehicle before his legs disowned him forever.) Ha, Lord, it was priceless to watch! That is Spring for ya in the Frozen North though. For one second you are lured into a false sense of warmer security, and then BOOM, the North is like FREEZE right there—gotcha! Feels like we are going to be cold forever.
At least we had some good food to warm us up when we got home. Once his legs thawed out, Dane made a delicious meal consisting of steamed artichokes and marinated steak. (Drool.) It really was a great day, Lord. Hilariously chilly, at first, while accomplishing our errands, but then turning blissfully warm as we ended the day cuddling up on the couch together (clearly one of our favorite things to do) in order to watch our favorite baseball team—the San Diego Padres—come away with a win. Honestly, I think I am the big winner today because not only did I get entertained today (with some good laughs in there at the expense of my husband’s well-being haha), but I also got an amazing dinner right after. Can’t beat a dinner and a comedy show! Thanks for the laughs today, Lord.
Always,
Your Daughter Kaitlan
P.S. Lord, my greatest prayer today is that anyone dealing with anxiety, and Trichotillomania, gets a good laugh today. Let something humorous occur during their day that just makes them bend over in bubbling laughter (even if it is at the expense of a loved one’s poor clothing choice haha). For I truly believe it is no great secret that genuine smiles and all-encompassing belly laughter truly are the most natural—and purest—forms of medicine for the anxious brain. Thank you, Lord.
